The staff are excellent, very friendly and ensure your stay is enjoyable. The rooms in the hotel need updating; I would not choose to stay at the hotel again due to the rooms being quite basic for a 4*, and no safe in the room either. The restaurant area is nice. The bar area could do with an open fire, which would be in keeping with the property and, due to the bar's location can be quite cool. I found the lockers difficult to use; there are no instructions when trying to use them, only in the reception area. I did ask someone to show me, but they were too busy apparently, so I asked another customer to help me. There was no concession for late checkout on New Year's Day; however, upon request, this was granted. You also have to book for breakfast; therefore, on New Year's Day, I had to get up for 9 am to go down to breakfast, which was not ideal. I had paid for the trip online when I booked; however, when I came to checkout, I was charged the full amount again and was informed that there was no log that I had already paid, but when we arrived and checked in, it was acknowledged that I had paid, it was a good job that I had the email displaying that I had paid. Upon further investigation by the hotel, it was noted that I had paid. I thought that I had read somewhere that there was an option for a set menu for NYE, but al a carte was still an option however this was not the case. The food was ok. The stay was made better due to the friendliness of the bar and restaurant staff, all credit to them.

Macdonald hotel and Spa, we stayed as a couple for 2 nights, 21/07/2025, for our leisure break to Scotland. It's set in a great location for nearby attractions such as the Kelpies and the Falkirk wheel. The hotel looks great on approach set in well kept lawned grounds with good signage. The hotel is old in style, has history related to it, with modern updated facilities added later. We had free parking and breakfast included in our room price for our stay, also we could make use of the pool and other facilities also included. Reception areas, are well presented giving a good first impression, Reception staff are very smart, helpful and informative with information about the hotel. We were given our room located on the second floor, away from the lift as requested, on moving through the hotel on our way to our room we found the corridors and carpets weren't upto the same standard of decoration and style as the reception area at the front of the hotel, these areas looked dated, tired and carpets not looking their best. Our room keyring given, was large wooden and not the best to carry around. The room we we're allocated was large spacious, clean as could be although a bit dated in style, TV and furniture. The room had a window however no view, as it overlooked the rooftop of the outbuildings of the recreational facilities. We found the carpets were hoovered but well worn and not at their best to be honest. WiFi was basic not working at it's best as signal kept dropping off, you can however pay extra for a better speed. Over the 2 days, we found the room very warm and stuffy as only a small fan supplied and window which only opened a couple of inches for air. A good air-conditioning unit would be much more appreciated in the warmer months. The room had a large king-size very comfortable bed, great heavy lined black out curtains, Great plus we had a good shower and bath with first class shower and body products supplied, Elemis. We got used to the room over the 2 days, even though very tired and dated it was clean and comfortable. The rest of the hotel, the decor and furnishings were much more up-to-date in modern style. We had a great stay at the Macdonald, The service we received by all staff was very impressive, everyone of the staff were very polite and a credit to the hotel, we noticed a lot of the staff were very young, they were very smart in appearance and the standards in service was excellent they were very professional, We enjoyed a great breakfast in the mornings, lots of choices available cold and hot, Good quality, well presented like a work of art. Evening meal options and service was also excellent as was the service by the very friendly bar staff. The service we received by all the staff made our stay very memorable and if ever we return to Scotland, we will choose or recommend the Macdonald Hotel and Spa, any negative comments in this review are purely for constructive purposes only, if the rooms got a bit of money spent on them

Tired and very dated. Not even a socket beside the bed. CASHLESS- but you won't find that out untl you have paid for your room. Its quiet, in a great location, but I feel it has maybe 'had it's day'. Be prepared to be bombarded with mindless info txts continuilly from booking until your eventual escape!

I have read the reviews of other clients who stayed at this hotel and, in particular, the criticism of the staff. This is by no means an ultra modern hotel. This hotel seems steeped in history. As with every hotel in the world, The staff make the hotel. We were part of a large contingent of family and friends attending an engagement here, I have to say the staff went above and beyond their roles to cater for us, every single staff member from the bar staff to the food servers and receptionists were absolutely brilliant. A credit to the Scottish hospitality industry. Yes, the rooms and decor are somewhat dated but this reflects the age of the historic buildings that make up the hotel estate.

Father’s Day gift for my husband to stay one night dinner bed and breakfast wi the full use of spa facilities and 2 treatments Positives - check in was pleasant girl was very nice, restaurant staff also very friendly and food was delicious at breakfast and dinner sittings. Spa treatments were excellent felt great after and enjoyed them thoroughly . Negatives. Room 125 cob webs in bedroom and bathroom along ceilings and shower does not drain properly so water overflows onto the floor Upon entering spa we were informed sauna was out of order and had been for ten days prior to our arrival. We would have expected to have been informed of this before check in date so that we could have the option to reschedule the visit as the whole point of gifting it for Father’s Day was for full use of the spa facilities so this was disappointing Also upon entering spa to use facilities no robe was provided as girls advised they are within the bedrooms. We couldn’t access the bedroom till 3pm and we were using the spa facilities from 12? This meant we had to get dressed after swim/ steam room use to then check in at 3pm to then collect robes from room to then undress again to enter spa treatments for 430pm which was rather disappointing.

Had our wedding at the Inchyra hotel and spa. Excellent day and we were well looked after. Food was excellent. Special mention to Holly at the bar who looked after the females in our group with her ability to make great cocktails.

Chose this hotel for the close access to The Kelpies, 5 minutes by car, Falkirk Wheel, 25 minutes by car. They have coach parties staying one night. Car park is large and easy to park on level access. Room on third floor at rear overlooking grassland to the roadway was a deluxe double. It did need a refurb with too many items to list. Lack of plugs being one item. A sign of the need to refurb is a couple stuck in the lift for 2 hours one night. Glad it wasn’t us. Water available from dispensers on each floor level is a nice touch Food…. £39 for a rib eye steak in a steak house, served lukewarm Expensive food throughout the menu, poor quality. Breakfast was fine at £24, but would be nice to have poached eggs freshly made. Due to the proximity to Grangemouth this hotel has multiple types of guest and deals with volume very well. We stayed 2 nights and the location was great. All staff very helpful even when the restaurant was busy on Monday night.
